Canterbury Earthquake - the Buller District Council extends its sympathies to the people of the Canterbury region who have been affected by the devastating earthquake. Subject to formal Council approval, the Council intends to pledge $10,000 towards the relief fund. Buller District Council building inspectors will also be on teh ground in Canterbury assisting with the assessment process.
We are also aware that the community is keen to offer support and some people have offered their homes to provide accommodation for displaced or weary Canterbury residents. Anyone who is keen to assist should please contact Perry or Annette bray at the Salvation Army on 03 789 8085 or 027 319 8154 so that efforts can be coordinated and directed to those most in need.
