Consumers on the Reefton water supply are advised that due to some previous E.Coli transgressions and variance in water quality, it is advisable to continue boiling all water used for drinking and food preparation.
The Buller District Council has awarded a Contract to Reefton Crane Hire Ltd to line and roof the existing water reservoir in the hill behind the town. The roofing work is now complete and the liner material has been installed.
Council has also awarded a Contract to Hynds Environmental to construct a Water Treatment Plant adjacent to the Strand and near the skateboard park.
It is a Ministry of Health recommendation to continue with the “boil water notice” until the completion of the new Treatment Facility, which is expected to be by mid April 2012.
